As some of you may know my sister Sharon was diagnosed with Breast Cancer just over 3 years ago now.
The picture on the left shows her 3 years ago as she herself was going through her chemotherapy treatment. Standing tall and proudly showing off her bald head.
Top right picture shows Sharon as she is now, hair all grown back with the same happy smile!
I wanted to write this post in support of my sister as she approaches yet another stage in her journey. Sharon is due to go into hospital tomorrow in preparation of her reconstruction surgery, which is to take place on Thursday 5th February. This will be major surgery that will take approximately 8 - 9 hours and about 8 weeks recovery. Sharon has had three years and a lot of thinking in making the decision to go ahead with the operation.
I would very much appreciate you all in joining me to wish her well for her operation and recovery. Even if you don't personally know her, I'm sure that any messages will help her on her way. So please post your messages of support to my sister on here. Thank you. X
hi everyone, now you can picture mandy with no hair, lol.
ReplyDeletei was given the name " Baldylocks and the three hairs" i dont mind passing it on, now i am just a grizzly, you know, all hairy.
mandy if you lose your hair, it will be ok. in fact,it may look odd when the new hair comes through as it will be wavy/ curly against the long straighter hair.
i think it is great the support you are giving mandy, keep it up. xx :)
Hi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteJust a quick line to wish you goodluck for the op. You will probably have it behind you by the time you read this. So that's great. Hopefully you will soon be back firing on all four cylinders, (all 4 cylinders? I think that's a car. I know you are not a car! Nevertheless I am sure you will soon be back up to full speed. Thank you for all the support you have given to Mandy, you have been a real inspiration.

ReplyDeleteso sorry to hear that you have been feeling down since the
loss of your hair,we can understand how you feel especially
after suffering the horrible cold cap treatment. We then
thought hangon, the last time we spoke to you, Nick (being

on him so you"re sure to look great in them.
Please pass on our best wishes to your sister Sharon
concerning her reconstruction operation.
Hoping to see you and Nick at the weekend.
Love Eileen & Barry xx

Update on Sharon
ReplyDeleteHi everyone, I have just phoned the hospital to see what I could find out about Sharon's progress and after 12 hours Sharon is now in the recovery room and will hopefully soon be well enough to be taken up onto the ward for a good nights rest. :) Will update again tomorrow.
Hi Mandy
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed you in school the other day but I was off. Throwing up everywhere - not a pretty sight I can tell you. Anyway hope everything goes well for your sister. Keep up your positive spirit and don't even think about your hair. Remember its waht counts inside about a person rather than the outside and I'm sure with your spirit and tough cookie attitude that all will be well. Take care
Love Donna

P.S Yes Cherrie it would be lovely for us all to catch up and celebrate Mandy's success when finished

Today's update on Sharon
ReplyDeleteI have spoken with my brother in - law today and Sharon is groggy but comfortable. I will post more about Sharon and her progress as news unfolds. Thank you to everyone for your kind words of support so far.
Hi Mandy, sorry, but we,re a bit late catching up on the news, but that's us all over!!
ReplyDeleteSorry too that you are now losing your hair, but you can do your Ena Birch impression and keep your hat on all the time! I have had two friends go thro this in the last two years, one chose to wear some pretty headscarves, which you could think about when the weather gets a little warmer, and the other girl who i didn't know too well chose to wear a wig and I didn't even notice and told her I liked her new hair cut!! Whatever you choose I'm sure you'll look great and we admire your courage and wish you all the best.
We would also like to send our best wishes to your sister and hope she is feeling better after her operation.
Sending you both lots of love.....
Tina,Stuart & family x x x
